Udhampur : The NCC Cadets of 2nd J&K Girls Battalion in collaboration with Botany Department of the Government Degree College Udhampur Monday took out an awareness rally to make people aware about the importance of clean water and specially the sanity of river Devika for their own wellbeing here Monday.
The Cadets first made the people aware about the clean water and then segregated thnon-organiciwaste from organic waste and put it in the dustbin installed there, whereas the organic waste was collected separately.
The drive was launched to clean the sacred river in view of the tradition of immersing Barley grass (Khetri) along with other Puja Saamgri like Chunni, Dhoop in the river including non-organic waste like polythene and non-biodegradable material.
The whole event was conducted under the leadership of Prof SubhashChander Sharma, Principal GDC, Udhampur and under the mentorship of Prof. (Capt) Shivani Sharma, Associate NCC Officer of the College. Principal encouraged the cadets and appreciated the efforts, zeal and selfless service of the cadets.
