Gram Swaraj Month: 228 Panchayat secretariats made functional, 248 Panchayats passed GPDP plans in Kathua

Kathua: The activities under Gram Swaraj Month being organised by different departments are in full swing across Kathua District.
The activities are being held as part of the 100 point programme whereby departmental activities are being converged at the Halqa levels to achieve saturation in welfare schemes, work towards creating clean panchayats, enhance public participation and spread mass awareness about the social security schemes, and heritage planning.
Some other activities being organised across the district include the establishment of a Panchayat secretariat; the uploading of data as a part of Digital Panchayats, registration of Panchayat on the GeM portal and other activities.
As informed by ACD Kathua Kishore Singh Katoch, the day long activities carried out by RDD and other concerned departments includes establishment of Panchayat secretariats besides finalization of Panchayat heritage plans.
He informed that a total of 228 Panchayat secretariats have been established in the district and 58 Panchayats have formulated heritage plans to conserve and preserve the heritage/ancient sites.
Under the initiative, 15 Panchayat level Vendors have been registered on GEM portal which will help in purchasing and hiring of services for Rural Development projects.
A total of 149 PMAY AWAS plus cases were processed for necessary sanction whereas 136 PMAY SECC houses have been completed in different blocks of the district.
Further, the job cards under MGNREGA have been fast paced and a total of 190 beneficiaries were enrolled Saturdayby field functionaries of the Rural Development Department.
Meanwhile, all 257 Panchayats of the district Kathua have successfully prepared GPDP plans and 248 Panchayats have passed resolutions under SthapnaDiwas Declaration.
Other activities being undertaken at Panchayathalqa level includes SwachhtaAbhiyan, Rejuvenation of water bodies, collection and disposal of plastic waste, affixing of boards displaying under ‘Harkaam par naam, saal, lagat’ etc.
