Samba: The Department of Rural Development (RDD) and Panchayati Raj Friday organized a meeting with representatives and members of Industrial Associations of Samba district to assess the skill requirement of corporate sector so that the candidates enrolled under the ambitious HIMAYAT programme can be trained in the market relevant trades.
While interacting with the participants through virtual mode, Commissioner Secretary, RDD, Mandeep Kaur, said that the meet shall provide an important platform to ascertain requirement of workforce of the industries, enabling the department to draft training modules accordingly so that the Project Implementing Agencies (PIAs) can train the candidates in the relevant trades which have demand in the market.
She added that the corporate sector has immense potential to provide job placement to the unemployed youth who are equipped with market-relevant trades under the programme.
Chief Operating Officer, Himayat, Deepika K Sharma, also interacted with members of different associations and gave a detailed Power Point presentation regarding the skill development, achievements of the scheme and other parameters covered under the scheme.
She informed that, so far, 1015 candidates have been enrolled, of which, 693 have been trained and 370 have been placed while 218 candidates are being imparted training.
Pertinently, HIMAYAT is a special initiative under DDU-GKY for unemployed youths (both urban & rural) of J&K which aims to provide jobs in the private sector to unemployed youth by equipping them with market-relevant skills.
The meeting was attended by ADDC, Rajinder Singh, GM DIC, Surinder Paul Sharma, Deputy Secretary RDD (Himayat), Mohammed Farooq Khan, Functional Manager, PankajSasan, Deputy Director Employment besides President of Industrial Associations from Samba, President CCI Samba, President Pharmaceutical Association, President Hotel Association Samba, President Small and tiny industry Association and representatives from KandhariBreverages, JK Gypsum Limited, IND-Swift Lab, Godrej limited, Berger paints, Grauer and Wiel limited, UPL, Cadila and others.
