G’bal : In order to adopt the Sustainable development goals in every panchayat, Gram Sabhas were conducted at panchayat level in all blocks of the district as part of month-long ‘Gram SwarajAbiyan.
On the occasion, 100 points programme of government were discussed which aims to ensure grassroots penetration of various welfare measures through awareness and promote mass participation in rural development.
During the proceedings of Gram Sabhas, various issues of Rural Development including cleanliness, sanitation, augmentation of water and power supply, good health facilities, better education and other developmental issues of public importance were discussed.
In all Gram Sabhas held in the district, PRI functionaries, frontline workers, local youth, besides, public in large numbers participated enthusiastically and put up their issues of development and other needs of the Panchayats. Besides, Gram Panchayat Development Plan (GPDP) and adoption of Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) in the light of 100 point programme of the government was discussed thoroughly.
It is pertinent to mention that the month of April is being observed as Gram Swaraj Month with an aim to strengthen the Panchayat Raj Institutions (PRIs) so as to realize the vision of Gram Swarajviz-a-viz democratic decentralization and saturation of 100 points programme targeted by the Government of Jammu and Kashmir.
