Narcotics smuggler held in Kupwara: Police

Kupwara : Police on Wednesday said that it has arrested a narcotics smuggler in Kupwara and also recovered narcotics from his possession.
In a statement issued on Wednesday police said that acting on specific input regarding the narcotic smuggling, Police have arrested a narcotics smuggler identified as Rafaqat Khursheed son of Khursheed Ahmad resident of Gabdoori Nawagabra Karnah.
“During questioning, the said accused confessed that he has received a consignment of narcotics from across the LoC to be transported to other parts of Jammu and Kashmir and beyond”, the statement reads, adding that “ the accused also further disclosed that he had concealed the narcotics in a Forest area in Hajitra”.
Stating that police alongwith concerned Magistrate upon this information, raided the specific spot and recovered 2.2Kgs of Brown Sugar concealed in three packets, Police in it’s statement further said that a case vide FIR No. 18/2022 under relevant sections of law stands registered at Police Station Karnah and further investigation initiated and more arrests are also expected in the case.
In the concluding para of its statement police appealed people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood but warned that people found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt with as per law, stating therein further that consistent actions against drug peddlers are taken to keep society free from the scourge of drug menace.
