DC Udhampur reviews preparedness for this year’s Amarnath Yatra, Calls for using environment friendly material in Langars

Udhampur : To ensure smooth conduct of this year’s annual amarnath Yatra, a meeting was convened under the Chairpersonship of DC, Udhampur, Indu Kanwal Chib, wherein emphasises was laid on adopting proactive approach and making coordinated efforts for the smooth conduct of the annual Yatra.
The meeting was convened to take stock of the arrangements to be put in place for smooth conduct of Annual Amarnath Yatra 2022 in Udhampur town and its outskirts on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway.
During the meeting, the DC impressed upon all the officers to ensure the requisite arrangements are made available well in time at all places for hassle-free conduct of the yatra .
The DC said that the District Administration will make all efforts for providing best facilities to the yatris by making adequate provision of basic amenities like drinking water, sanitation, electricity, lodging etc.
She directed the concerned departments to formulate a comprehensive sanitation, health, traffic management and lodging plan for the comfort of Yatries.
Besides, the arrangement for display of digital screens at prominent places to facilitate the stakeholders with 360 degree feedback was also discussed in the meeting. The DC stressed upon the langar organisers to use traditional Duna and Patals made of leaves to serve food to the yatris to save environment and help in reducing the plastic pollution in the city
The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner, Mohammad Syed Khan, Chief Planning Officer, Mudassir Yaqoob Zargar Additional SP, Anwar –Ul Haq and other district Officers of various departments besides representatives of Beopar Mandal and prominent citizens were present in the meeting..
