Shopian : As part of ‘Gram Swaraj Month’ being celebrated throughout Jammu and Kashmir in the month of April, Special Gram Sabhas were conducted in various Panchayats across the district where Gram Panchayat Development Plan (GPDP) adoption is being discussed besides focus on 100 points and sustainable development goals is being laid down.
The Gram Sabhas were conducted under the supervision of District Administration, Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Shopian in which PRIs, all stakeholders, frontline workers and local youth, among the functionaries of the Rural Development Department showed their enthusiastic participation.
Gram Swaraj Month is being observed as an effort to strengthen the Panchayat Raj Institutions (PRIs) so as to realize the vision of Gram Swarajviz-a-viz democratic decentralization and saturation of 100 points program targeted by the Govt of Jammu and Kashmir UT.
During the Gram Sabhas, a detailed discussion was held on the 100 points program.
On the occasion, several issues were redressed by the RDD functionaries whereas assurances were given to redress other remaining grievances within a fixed time frame. The participants also expressed their feedback and suggestions with regard to socio-economic development and good governance in rural areas which were subsequently noted by the concerned functionaries.
