Police facilitates police-public interaction meeting in Bandipora

B’pora : Police in Bandipora facilitated a police-public interaction meeting at Nowgam Sumbal area of Bandipora.
According to a police statement issued on Monday SDPO Sumbal Surinder Mohan accompanied by DDC Nowgam Farwa Ibrahim was guest of honour. Incharge PP Nowgam Insp. Qaiser Bashir also attend the meeting. The meeting was attended by respectable citizens, students, civil society members and some youths who had indulged in drug menace earlier.
The objective behind the meeting was to aware general public about drug de-addiction and how to eradicate the drug menace from the society besides seeking pubic support. The focus behind the programme was also to aware the students about the bad impact of drug addiction on physical and mental health and social ramifications of indulging in drug menace.
Speaking on the occasion, SDPO Sumbal highlighted the importance of such programmes and stressed that the efforts should be on the part of all stakeholders particularly by the civil society, religious scholars and parents to reach out to indulged youth in order to educate them about the menace of alcohol, drugs and narcotic substances. SDPO Sumbal urged up on students to work as ambassadors against drug addiction. He also impressed upon the parents to keep a close watch on their wards so that they do not fall prey to such illegal and immoral activities.
