Jammu : Jammu & Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture, and Languages’; (JKAACL) 7-day Theatre Workshop exclusively organized for the college students concluded successfully Saturday at the new K.L. Saigal Hall, Writers’ Club.
Sanjeev Rana, Additional Secretary JKAACL, in his address to the guests and the participating students said that after covid -19 this was the first workshop in Jammu exclusively organised for the students to provide them psychological relief educate them with the craft of theatre art form as they have remained confined in their homes for online study.
The Additional Secretary expressed great satisfaction while seeing the inputs of the faculty at JKAACL, who provided a platform to the interested students of three prestigious colleges of Jammu.
While highlighting the activities of JKAACL in both Jammu and Kashmir regions, he also expressed his thanks to Rahul Pandey, Secretary JKAACL, took keen interest in organizing such kinds of workshops for the students with a view to promote the essence of culture and traditions of J&K among the youth.
Earlier, Dr. Sudhir Mahajan, Director of the workshop, briefed that the aim of this workshop was not to make the students actor(s)/actress(es) but to make them aware about the techniques of theatre and provide an adequate opportunity to manifest and develop their personality. “So, the students can express themselves and communicate with others in a very confident way, on any platform, by using the tools of theatre” he added.
Four short improvised plays prepared by the students on the various socio political themes were excellently performed with full energy and concentration using the techniques learned during the workshop.
All performances were applauded by the audience and dignitaries. The students were also provided with Participation certificates to help them in their future endeavors.
Sanjeev Gupta, SOCA JKAACL; Anil Tickoo, ACO JKAACL and Pankaj Gupta, LO Abhinav Theatre, were the in-house faculty while Tara Chand and Vimal Kumar provided the sound.
The program was anchored by the students themselves. The students who participated in the workshop were Aarti Padwal, Pooja Sharma, Manyaveer Singh Thakur, Sanchit Sharma, Rimjhim Pandita, Himanshu Sharma, Siya Gupta, Abhilasha Gupta, Vibhuti Sharma, Piya Gupta, Rubam Sharma, Sourav Sharma, Farzana Kouser, Pardeep Singh Bali, Divya Surmal, Parshotam Singh Bali, Ankita Devi, Harsh Dev, Kiran Gouray, Sandeep Sharma, Anu Sharma, Harvinder Kaur, Satyam Dutta, Megha Sharma, Karanvir Singh, Karanpreet Singh, Arun Singh Jamwal, Ashish Parihar, Saket Sharma, Dushyant Khajuria, Rahul Kaith, Gunjan Gupta, Shaku Sharma, Meridu Khajuria, Sonia Salgotra, Ayush Mahajan, Nikhil Sharma, and Sonam Angchuk.
