Jammu : Member Parliament Jammu-Poonch Constituency Jugal Kishore Sharma Saturday chaired a meeting to review the launch of ‘Sansad Khel Spardha’ in his Parliamentary Constituency.
DDC Chairman Bharat Bhushan, Deputy Commissioner Jammu Anshul Garg, DDC Vice Chairman Suraj Singh, SSP Chandan Kohli, JMC Commissioner Avni Lavasa, DEO Suraj Singh, DYSO Sukhdev Raj and other senior officers of the concerned departments were present in the meeting.
During the review meeting, the MP impressed upon all the concerned officers to organise the sports events in the Panchayat level, Block/zone level and then district level. He also asked them to focus on indigenous games like kabbadi, kho-kho, tug of war etc.
The Member Parliament also stressed upon the officers to organise the games in both boys and girls categories to involve maximum youths in the sports events.
The MP said that under the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Ministry of Sports and Youth Services these sports are going to be organised in every parliamentary constituency of India.
The MP said that the Government has taken many initiatives like ‘Khelo India’ to identify the talent in multidisciplinary sports at the grassroots level. He added that these sports are organised to encourage sports culture among youths.
The Member Parliament said that the main purpose behind organising this sports event was to identify local talent from different sports activities and promote them.
He further emphasized upon the YSS department to extend every support to youth and create sports champions at state, national and international level by providing them with the best facilities.
He further said that these kinds of sports events would also encourage the youth to lead a healthier lifestyle and channelize their energy in a positive direction and to keep them away from the menace of drugs and alcohol.
He asked the concerned officials from the Education department, Youth Services and Sports and RDD to register maximum children at Panchayat level. He also asked the DYSO to provide sports equipment and kits to the players participating in the various games.
After discussing the modalities for organising sports events under Sansad Khel Spardha, the Member Parliament directed all the concerned officials to work in synergy to make the event a big success.
