Anantnag : Various Gram SwarajMahina related activities were kickstarted here, Saturday. The activities are aimed at highlighting achievements of panchayats in the last year, carry out awareness programs and adopt resolutions for sustainable development in Panchayats and deliberate at the Panchayat level on development plans for the present fiscal.
Joint departmental camps will be organised to achieve saturation in various welfare schemes and social audits conducted at halqapanchayat level. Another facet of the program is to operationalise common public infrastructure points where the common man can easily access routine government services like revenue, RDD, etc.
The activities are being held as part of the 100 point program whereby various departmental activities are being converged at the Halqa levels to achieve saturation in welfare schemes, work towards creating greener panchayats, enhancing mass participation and awareness generation.
The initiative is driven by PRI participation with all line departments facilitating the various activities.
Gram Sabha was held in 37 panchayats of 16 Community Development blocks Saturday. With a gathering of all stakeholders, the gram sabhas deliberated on the development plans for the next fiscal. Resolutions were also adopted in the gram sabhas pledging to work towards realizing the sustainable development goals and a timeline was fixed for realizing these goals. The gram sabhas witnessed participation of Sarpanches, Panches, members of the civil society including children and women as well as officials from RDD and other line departments.
Sanitation drives were carried out in various halqapanchayats with focus on making the panchayats polythene free. Cleaning of local water bodies was also carried out.
Working towards realizing the goal of green panchayats, plantation drives were held in various Panchayats. In block Pahalgam, the plantation drive was lead by DDC Chairman MY Gorsi himself.
The district has completed more than 4000 works in the last fiscal. Various PRI members inaugurated several such works in the 37 panchayathalqas. These works had been conceived by the gram panchayats and were thrown open for public use in festive fervour.
Sports tournaments were also organized with active participation of youth. It is in place to mention that playfields have been developed throughout district Anantnag and sports equipment distributed in all PanchayatHalqas during the B2V2 program held last year.
The district administration has extended all support to ensure that youth have avenues to channelize their energy in a productive fashion.
The District Administration has issued an activity schedule to hold gram sabhas and various other activities in all 335 panchayas in the first phase of Gram SwarajMahina.
