Kishtwar: Department of Animal Husbandry Kishtwar Saturday orginised a programe for distribution of Artificial insemination (A.I) inputs to newly trained Multipurpose Artificial Insemination Technician for Rural India (MAITRIs).
The program was presided over by Deputy Commissioner , Ashok Kumar in presence of ADC, Joint Director Planning, ACR, District officers of various Departments, besides officers of Animal Husbandry Department.
The dual motive of the MAITRIs scheme is to generate self employment for educated un-employed youths of Rural Areas and provide Artificial Insemination and basic first aid facilities to farmers of rural and far flung areas round the clock.
This scheme has been envisioned to improve genetic makeup of local indigenous breeds with good quality germ plasma to increase the economy of rural India.
The selected youth under MAITRI scheme are being trained by Livestock Development Board Animal Husbandry Department at state of art Veterinary institutes, free of cost along with full boarding and Lodging expenses.
In the said program the A.I and other inputs were distributed among ten (10) trained MAITRIs (from Warwan, Marwah, Padder, Drabshalla and Bunjwah) by Deputy Commissioner and Dr. Sanjay Kumar Sen, Chief Animal Husbandry officer.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Sanjay Kumar Sen (CAHO )advised the educated youth of Rural areas of Kishtwar District to Join hands with Animal Husbandry Department for self employment opportunities by availing the schemes of the Department.
