Kupwara: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kupwara, Imam Din Wednesday chaired a Mega Block Diwas programme at Town Hall Handwara.
ADC Handwara, Nazir Ahmad Mir; DDC Member Rajwar, Suliman Mir; ASP, Tehsildar, Officers from Civil administration and PRIs, besides, general public attended the Block Diwas programme.
The DC in his address said that the aim of holding weekly block diwas is to hear the people at their door steps and address their developmental issues and grievances and to provide them awareness about different welfare schemes.
Referring to the Mission Youth, the DC appealed to the unemployed youth to take keen interest in self-employment and benefit from schemes of ambitious Mission Youth programme to generate livelihood for themselves and others as well.
He emphasized the need for channelizing the energy of the youth and utilising it in a right direction for their welfare. He directed the PRIs to make a data bank of unemployed youth of their concerned panchayats qualification wise so that they can benefit from different self-employment schemes under Mission Youth.
Referring to the District Skill Plan, the DC said that an Rs.2 crore Skill Development plan has been proposed by the District Administration to the government to boost the skill sector in the district.
ADC Handwara, DDC Member and ASP also spoke on the occasion.
Earlier, PRIs and senior citizens projected various developmental issues of the area before the chair.
Officers from Administration also spoke and replied to the queries raised by the PRIs and public. They also gave awareness regarding developmental schemes of their respective departments.
Block Diwas was also held at BudwanTangdar and Sogam which were chaired by respective Sub Divisional Magistrates. PRIs and concerned Officers attended the block diwas and attended the public grievances.
