DC Ang holds Block Diwas at Sunduh, inaugurates free Conifer sale counter

Anantnag : A massive public outreach/ Awareness cum planting program was Wednesday organised at Govt. Middle School Sunduh in which a number of saplings of conifers, fruit plants were planted by J&K Forest Department in collaboration with local Administration and Education Department.
The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Anantnag, Dr.PiyushSingla was the chief guest on the occasion.
Addressing the gathering, the DC highlighted the importance of Forests and Forest resources. He said that forests are essential for food, water etc. He also praised the department for initiating various flagship programmes including HarGaonHariyali, One Beat Guard One Village Programme etc. He assuredthat all possible support will be given to implementation of programmes of Forest Department in the district.
The DC inaugurated sale counter of Conifer plants in Srundoo which was attended by educationists, school children, local panchayat representatives, youth and other forest officials. He distributed various plants among general public.
Addressing public grievances regarding water supply issues, the DC said that a holistic plan for addressing the water supply in the entire district has been developed and put under implementation through Jaljeevan Mission and the area will have regular water supply well before the completion date. He also directed CEO Anantnag to immediately occupy the new building for MS Sundoh that has already been completed.
Dr Singla said that the district has completed 4000 works in the previous fiscal and plan formulation for the next fiscal is underway. He said the role of PRIs and inputs by citizens during block diwas have been critical in tailoring development plans to local needs.
The DC said that he is personally monitoring the grievances that are being received in various Block Diwas events organized and redressal is being reviewed regularly.
The Conservator of Forests on the occasion informed that during the current year against the 14.20 lakh planting target, 15.74 lakh plants have been plantedtill date in South Kashmir. This includes planting of saplings under different schemes like CAMPA, CAPEX etc.
Later, the DC inaugurated the AUTO CAD lab at Government Polytechnic Larkipora. Equipped with 30 state of the art computers.
The DC directed the Principal to operationalize the lab so that necessary soft skills can be taught to students. He said acquiring such soft skills will equip the students with necessary tools to become contributors to the society. He also inspected the entire campus.
Interacting with specially-abled student, the DC directed that appropriate measures be taken to ensure that specially-abled children face no difficulties in attending classes.
Dr Singla visited the under-constructionBy-Pass that will link Donipawa with Byepass thereby circumventing JanglatMandi and the main town area. This road will reduce traffic congestion in main market Anantnag. Directions were issued to concerned officials to expedite the work.
