ACB arrests Executive Engineer PDA for accepting bribe

Srinagar : The Jammu & Kashmir Anti Corruption Bureau (J&K ACB) on Wednesday trapped and arrested Executive Engineer, Pahalgam Development Authority (PDA), Anantnag for demanding and accepting bribe of Rs 10,000 for passing the bill for balance payments.
In a statement issued on Wednesday a spokesman of J&K ACB said “J&K ACB received a complaint where it was alleged that Muzzaffer Ahmed Dada, Executive Engineer, Pahalgam Development Authority (PDA), Anantnag is demanding bribe of Rs 20,000 from complainant for passing bill for balance payments of complainant”.
Stating that the complainant, who is a contractor by profession, had done the work titled R.C.C Foot path foundation and Boundary Walls work of Amarnath Ji Yatra Track from Chandanwari to Pissotop in KM 01 to 03 in PDA, the J&K ACB in his statement further said “the complainant had alleged that Muzzaffer Ahmad Dada, Executive Engineer, PDA is demanding a bribe of Rs 20,000 from him for releasing an amount of Rs 8,044,72 for work done.”
The spokesman further said that upon receiving the instant complaint prima facie offence U/S 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act 1988 was found made out and Consequently, case FIR No. 04/2022 was registered at P/S ACB Anantnag and investigation was taken up.
“During the course of investigation, a trap team was constituted”, reads the J&K ACB statement, adding that “ the team caught Muzzaffer Ahmad Dada, Executive Engineer red handed while demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000 from the complainant”. Stating that the accused was arrested on the spot by the ACB team, the spokesman of J&K ACB in his statement said that the bribe money was also recovered from his possession in presence of independent witnesses.
