Baramulla, : he Deputy Commissioner (DC) Baramulla, Bhupinder Kumar Monday visited Government Degree College Boniyar and kick-started plantation drive in the college.
On the occasion, the DC planted a Conifer sapling in the college compound in presence of Senior Superintendent of Police Baramulla, Rayees Mohammad Bhat and College Principal, Prof.Tariq Hussain Bhat.
The DC directed the concerned officers for step plantation alongside the boundary wall of the College for beautification of the premises. He also said that the aim of this plantation drive is to generate awareness among the people for the importance of planting trees.
The DC emphasized the role of trees in protection of the environment and human survival and urged upon all stakeholders including the general public to plant more and more trees in this plantation season.
The SSP Baramulla also planted a Conifer sapling on the occasion and highlighted the need to protect and conserve the environment. He said that tree plantation is very important for the safe environment and the initiative will go a long way in inculcating awareness among the masses about environment and its conservation.
