DC Rajouri chairs Distt Road Safety Committee meet, Calls for strict enforcement of road traffic rules

Rajouri : Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, VikasKundal Saturday chaired a meeting of the concerned members of the District Road Safety Committee (DRSC) to review the road safety measures and traffic management in the district.
Officers present in the meeting were SSP, Mohd Aslam; ADC Rajouri, Sachin Dev Singh; ACR, Imran Rashid Kataria; SDM Thanamandi, VikasDhar; SE PWD, NissarHussain; CEO Education, ShailashKumari; CMO, Dr Shamim Un Nissa Bhatti; ARTO, Shami Kumar and other concerned officers.
A detailed discussion on various points including road safety awareness programs, removal of illegal encroachments on National Highway, constitution of road safety clubs, identification of black spots, traffic management etc was held threadbare in the meeting.
Addressing the officers in the meeting, the DC said that collective efforts are required to minimize the road accidents and urged the concerned officers to ensure close interdepartmental coordination for implementing road safety measures.
Stressing on the need for generating mass awareness about the road safety norms, he asked the CEO Education to organize special awareness programs in the educational institutions and educate the students about the traffic rules. The DC also asked the CEO Education to activate the Road Safety clubs in the district at the earliest.
Regarding the eviction of the illegal encroachments on the roadsides, the DC asked the concerned officers totake stern action against the offenders.
For the identification of the black spots on the roads, he asked all the concerned departments to take corrective measures in accident-prone areas by fixing signboards and other precautionary measures.
He also directed the Motor Vehicle Department to hold special road safety awareness camps on regular intervals and motivate people to follow the golden rules of traffic.
