Udhampur: An awareness cum sensitization programme on different self employment schemes of the government was Friday held by J&K Khadi and Village Industries Board here at Garnai.
Block Development Chairman, Block Udhampur, Balwan Singh, Sarpanch Vikram Singh, Panches attended the camp in presence of Dy.CEO KVIB Jammu Division Tilak Raj, Functional Manager DIC, Representative from District Employment office, Bankers and a large number of unemployed youth of area.
The Dy CEO impressed upon the unemployed youth and the budding entrepreneurs of the area to come forward and avail the benefits of self employment schemes to start their employment generating ventures.
While elaborating the schemes, he said that under Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP) and Jammu and Kashmir Rural Employment Generation Programme (JKREGP) schemes, the beneficiary is provided 25 to 35% subsidy, while a loan assistance up to Rs 25 lakh and Rs 10 lakh is provided for manufacturing and services sector ventures, respectively.
He further said that these schemes also envisage reducing the migration of the people from rural to urban areas in search of job opportunities. He informed that both the schemes are online and people can avail their benefits from their home without visiting offices.
Other Officers present in the camp also highlighted different schemes being implemented by their respective departments and urged the youth to come forward to get benefits out of such schemes. Block Development Chairman, Block Udhampur,Balwan Singh appreciated the steps taken by the J&K KVIB to educate the unemployed youth of the area and urged that such programmes must be made a regular feature and organised in every nook and corner of each block.
