Jammu: On the occasion of ‘World TB Day’, a pledge taking ceremony was Thursday organized at the Directorate of Health Services Jammu headed by Director Health Services Dr. Saleem-ur-Rehman.
All the officers and officials of the Directorate participated in the ceremony.
Speaking to the media, the DHSJ reiterated that TB is curable provided it is detected early and timely treatment initiated. The DHSJ also urged the people to come forward and get themselves tested in case of symptoms like cough and fever for more than two weeks, weight loss and blood in sputum. He said early detection was key to achieve the target of eliminating TB by 2025.
“All the investigations for TB and its treatment are available free of cost in Government Health Centres along with an added benefit of Rs. 500 per month for nutritional support to the patient under Nikshay Poshan Yojna” he informed.
The day was observed in all districts of Jammu division and mass awareness activities were carried out.
