Sopore| March, 24: Police on Thursday said that it has arrested a drug peddler in Sopore and also recovered huge quantity of contraband substance from his possession.
In a statement issued on Thursday police said that a Police party of Police Station Dangiwacha under the supervision of SDPO Rafiabad at a checkpoint established at Bahrampora intercepted a person identified as Gulzar Ahmad Zargar @Sheeda and upon checking recovered 1.196Kgs of Charas from his possession, stating therein further that during questioning, the said accused disclosed that he was on way to Rafiabad to sell the drugs in the area. The accused, according to the police statement, has been arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody.
Police in it’s statement further said that a case vide FIR No. 30/2022 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Dangiwacha and further investigation set into motion.
In the concluding para of it’s statement Police appealed people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood but warned that people found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt with as per law, stating therein further that consistent actions against drug peddlers are taken to keep society free from the scourge of drug menace.
