Timber smuggler arrested in Pulwama: Police

Police on Wednesday said that it has arrested a timber smuggler and also seized illicit timber in Pulwama.
In a statement issued on Wednesday police said that while acting on specific information about timber smuggling, a Police Party from Police Station Rajpora at a checkpoint established at Shadimarg intercepted a vehicle bearing registration no. JK03B-3975 and upon searching the vehicle recovered a huge quantity of illicit timber. “The driver of the vehicle identified as Mohd Altaf Dar son of Gh Mohd Dar resident of AyangundRajpora was arrested”, reads the above referred police statement, adding that “vehicle used in the commission of the crime has also been seized and the accused has been shifted to Police Station where he remains in custody”.
Police in its statement further said that a case FIR No. 18/2022 under relevant sections of law stands registered at Police Station Rajpora and investigation has been taken up. In the concluding para of its statement police warned that people found indulging in antisocial activities will be dealt with as per law.
