DDC Chairperson Poonch constitutes Bio-diversity Management Committee

Poonch : Chairperson District Development Council Poonch, Tazim Akhter Wednesday chaired a meeting to discuss and finalize the constitution of the District Biodiversity Management Committee.
The meeting was attended by DDC Member Mendhar B, Wajid Bashir Khan; DDC Member Surankote B, Sohail Malik; DDC Member Surankote A, Shahnawaz Ahmed; DDC Member Lassana, RukhsanaKouser; BDC Chairperson Poonch, Jameel Ahmed; BDC Chairperson Mankote, AmanUllahChowdhary; BDC Chairperson Sathra, Farida Bi.
Additional District Development Commissioner, Abdul Sattar; DFO Territorial, Suresh Manda; ACD, AbidHussain Shah were also present in the meeting.
During the meeting, the council also deliberated on other issues including shortage of teachers in the district, non-utilisation of funds under district capex by groundwater division Jammu, delay in clearance of individual cases under Forest Rights Act.
In the meeting, the District Development Council constituted a district level Biodiversity Management Committee (BMC) in the presence of members of the Council.
The DFO Poonch apprised the council about the role of District level BMC in conservation and sustainable utilization of bio resources and declaration of bio heritage sites. Members of the district level BMC were nominated by the council through consensus and chairman of the BMC was elected from the nominated members.
The ADDC Poonch briefed the council about environmental conservation and sustainable development.
After listening to all the issues and demands, the DDC Chairperson asked the concerned officers to immediately address the same to mitigate the suffering of the general message.
The chairperson DDC, while concluding the meeting, impressed upon all the district officers to work in close coordination with the PRIs at different levels to achieve the desired results. She also requested all the council members to submit their Area dev. Plan 2022-23 without any further delay.
