Kishtwar: The week long Awareness cum Mass De-worming programme organised by the Animal Husbandry Department culminated in Kishtwar district.
The week long awareness programme which started on 14th March was organised under the aegis of Azadi ka Amrut Mahatsav and as a part of good Governance initiative.
A record number of 76 camps were organized during the week across the length and breadth of District Kishtwar including far flung and snow bound areas of Warwan, Marwah and Padder.
The public in general and framers/ animal breeders in particular were made aware about the importance and benefits of de-worming and vaccination.
Further, the farmers were educated about the management of good health of livestock by the concerned Veterinary Assistant Surgeons. Thousands of farmers/animal breeders including a large number of females participated in the camps.
Besides, vaccination and the general treatment Medicines, the department distributed mineral mixtures, calcium supplements, Dewormers. The insurance of Livestock was also done on the spot.
Farmers were also advised to take benefits of schemes of Department like KCC, IDDS, IPDP and IFFDP.
The Public was given important tips for clean milk production and maintenance of good health of livestock.
The motive of these camps was to aware the masses regarding Departmental activities and livestock management, timely vaccination and de worming for good health of livestock for increasing the production and doubling farmer’s income.
The public Representatives appreciated the efforts put forth by the Department for uplifting the socio-economic status of the farmers and assured full co-operation to the Department for achieving the benefits extended under different schemes & requested to conduct such camps in future as well.
Meanwhile, the Chief Animal Husbandry Officer extended gratitude to Deputy Commissioner, Ashok Sharma and the PRIs of Kishtwar District for their support to make the campaign a success. He further congratulated the staff of Animal Husbandry Department for the successful campaign and announced that in the interest of Famers/Livestock breeders such awareness camps shall be organized in future also.
