Jammu : A Punjabi poetry collection ‘Na Vazan Na Behar, Ih Taan Man Di Lehar’ written by Jang S. Verman, a senior artist, columnist on art & culture, journalist and writer of J&K, was released in a function organized by Punjabi Lekhak Sabha, Jammu at K L Saigal Hall, Cultural Academy Complex, Canal Road, Jammu on 17th March, 2022. Dr. Baljit Kour, HoD, Deptt. of Punjabi, University of Jammu was the chief guest on this occasion whereas Dr. Arvinder Singh Amn, Additional Secretary, J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages presided over the function. S. Popinder Singh Paras, Editor Sheeraza Punjabi was present in the programme as representative of President, Punjabi Lekhak Sabha, Jammu. It’s the first literary publication by Jang S. Verman. A large number of intellectuals, artists and writers attended the programme.
Popinder Singh Paras, Editor Sheeraza Punjabi (J&K) welcomed the dignitaries and guests. He informed that Sh. Verman is an international painter and multimedia artist who has displayed his literary and art talent at many places on national and international level.
Two Papers were presented by Smt. Parvinder Kaur and Research Scholar Gurpreet Kour, Deptt. of Punjabi, University of Jammu on various aspects of the released book and the life & contribution of Jang S. Verman in multiple fields of art, culture, literature and social work.
While speaking on this occasion, Dr. Arvinder Singh Amn said that he has seen the active participation of Jang S. Verman in various art & culture activities at various platforms. He said that Verman has been always coming up with positivity to project art & culture in its various manifestations. He added that the poetry included in the book is a collection of many colours of his observations on various odds & evens in the social, mystic and day- to- day life situations, as well as the dreams of a commoner, and has reflected and expressed his views on those issues.
Speaking on this occasion, Dr. Baljit Kour appreciated the endeavours undertaken by Jang S. Verman with versatility. She said that though it’s his first poetry collection but Verman has dealt with the issues with a maturity of thought and expression. She added that it’s heartening to see new writers coming forward, and adding to the Punjabi literature of Jammu & Kashmir. Prof. Lalit Magotra, President Dogri Sanstha, Jammu also presented his views on this occasion.
Jang S. Verman also expressed his views on his journey in the field of art, culture and literature. He also presented some pieces of his poetry.
The proceedings of the programme were conducted by Dr. Baljeet Singh Raina, General Secretary, PLS, J. The programme ended with vote of thanks by S. Harji Singh Uppal, President, Punjabi Sahitik Sabha, R S Pura.
