With Lt Governor Manoj Sinha assuring rehabilitation to MBBS returnees of war ravaged Ukraine for completion of their incomplete medical courses in medical colleges across the country under a policy to be devised by the central government, the deeply concerned students and their parents have got a huge respite. Now what matters is the timing of the finalisation of a policy for rehabilitation for MBBS returnees of Ukraine in different colleges of the country and it’s immediate implementation not only in Jammu & Kashmir but also in other parts of the country. Central Government’s decision to secure the future of medical students on their return from Ukrain is by all standards of understandabilities a good omen for the future of health sciences in the country as finally these medical students would surely getting better training in medical colleges of their own country due to the fact that the standards of teaching and training in Indian medical colleges is much better than the medical colleges of Ukraine and other central asian countries which were part of erstwhile USSR. Since not only MBBS students but also a good no of engineering students have also returned from war ravaged Ukraine in a state of chaos and confusion, the rehabilitation of engineering students in different engineering colleges of the country is as demanding as is rehabilitation of MBBS returnees of different medical colleges of Ukraine. Keeping in view the rising concerns of the medical and engineering students about their future in their own country after their return from war ravaged Ukraine, the work on the proposed policy of rehabilitation for MBBS returnees of Ukraine in different medical colleges of the country needs to be expedited in the larger interests of the students.

Today Russia’s war against Ukraine has threatened the future of medical and engineering students in hundreds on return to their own country but a similar situation in any other country could threaten the life and education of thousands of youth any time in coming years. Lt Governor coming to the rescue of the MBBS returnees of Ukraine has though brought respite to them and their facilities but engineering students returning from war ravaged Ukrain also deserve a similar rehabilitation in different engineering colleges of the country.

Indian students becoming vulnerable to unpredictable security situation like the one prevailing in Ukraine demands a shift in admission policy for medical and engineering courses and  as such a decision to change the admission policy for medical and engineering courses is attracting even the attention of the central Government due to fast changing security scenario in several central asian countries.
