GCW Udhampur celebrates World Water Day

Udhampur To mark the celebration of World Water Day, the Swachhta Action Plan (SAP) Club of Government College for Women (GCW) Udhampur, in collaboration with Mahatma Gandhi National Council of Rural Education (MGNCRE), Ministry of Human Resource Development, Govt. of India, 1st J&K Girls Battalion NCC, Srinagar and NSS units of the college on Tuesday organised a rally cum Nukad Natak to highlight the importance of ‘fresh water in our lives as well as for the society.’
The programme was organised under the supervision of the College Principal Prof. Minu Mahajan.
Vice Principal of the College Prof. Kewel Kumar was the Chief Guest, who flagged off the rally.
The rally started from the College campus and after passing through Kallar Himanti, Industrial Estate, Upper Rathian culminated at GCW adopted village Blay Rathian.
The rally was escorted by Dr. Kewal Kumar, Prof. Sumita Rao, Prof Sanjay Kumar, Prof Shallu Jasrotia, Prof Tania Mahajan and Prof Yash Kumar.
During the rally, cadets of NCC, NSS Volunteers and other college students raised various slogans to educate the general masses about the importance of water and its resources.
Meanwhile, a Nukkad natak on Water conservation was also presented by the NSS volunteers and NCC cadets of the college at Govt. Primary School (GPS), Blay, Rathian where a large number of students , parents witnessed the event enthusiastically along with the school staff.
Speaking on the ocassion, Prof. Kewel Kumar said that the main aim of organizing this rally cum Nukkad Natak is to celebrate world water day and to make people aware about the significance of fresh water in our lives. The NSS Programme Officer Prof. Sumita Rao also gave a detailed account of activities of the NSS Unit carried out in the campus as well as different locations from time to time. Both the activities focused on sensitizing the general masses, students and the kids of the GCW adopted village- about the present situation of water scarcity, she added.
Among others, Panch Rathian, Narinder Singh, HOD Music, Dr. Seema Sharma, Convenor SAP, Dr. Kewal Kumar, Convenor IQAC, Prof. Suneel Singh Barheyan, NSS Programme Officer, Prof Sumita Rao, Prof Sanjay Kumar, Prof Tania Mahajan and NCC I/C ANO, Prof Shallu Jasrotia, Prof Yash Kumar, a large number of students and prominent citizens were also present on the occasion.
