DC reviews arrangements for Navratra, Ramadan, Baisakhi festival

Poonch : The arrangements for Navratra, Baisakhi and holy month of Ramadan were Tuesday reviewed here at a meeting chaired by Deputy Commissioner, Poonch, Inder Jeet.
The meeting was attended by Additional Superintendent of Police Poonch, ADC Poonch, Dr. Bashrat Hussain, Chairman Municipal Council Poonch, Sunil Sharma, CMO Poonch, G.A Malik, Executive engineer of different department, CEO Municipality, Mushtaq, AD Food, Ranjeet, Inspector, ARTO Office, zahoor, members of civil society, prominent citizens and religious heads including President DGPC Poonch, Narinder Singh, President SDS, Satish Sasan, Khatib Imam Mufti, Advocate Mohammad. Zaman, Taj Mir and others.
In the meeting, religious heads and prominent citizens raised various issues related to the arrangement of Navratras, Baisakhi and the holy month of Ramadan. They requested the administration to ensure drinking water, power supply, sanitation, security arrangement, action against illegal parking in the market areas and eviction of unlicensed Rharies from the markets etc.
The religious leaders further appealed to the Deputy Commissioner to make arrangements of drinking water, light, Gen set, security at Dera Nangali Sahib where huge Baisakhi mela is held every year with traditional fervor and gaiety.
The DC asked the concerned to ensure availability of all requisite and essential commodities, especially mutton, Chicken, Vegetables and milk on prescribed rates during the holy month of Ramadan. He directed the officers of all departments to work in synergized manner to avoid inconvenience to the people.
The PDD and PHE departments were asked to provide adequate power and potable water supply. He also directed MC to repair all defunct street lights and water pipes before the festivals.
He further directed the authorities of CA&FCS department to keep available essential commodities as per need and asked for effective monitoring of public distribution mechanism.
The DC also directed the Municipal Committee to maintain cleanliness in and around the places of worships and at the places of congregations.
The the officers of police were asked to ensure foolproof security arrangements during the festivals.
