Kupwara: Police on Monday said that it has arrested a drug peddler in Kupwara and also recovered contraband substance from his possession.
In a statement issued on Monday police said that acting on specific input, a Police party led by SHO PS Kupwara under the supervision of Dy SP Hqrs Kupwara apprehended a drug peddler identified as Aadil Hussain Bhat son of Ab Majid Bhat resident of Gonipora, Hyhama from Chalgund area and upon checking, officers recovered 300 grams of Charas like substance from his possession.
“During questioning, Adil disclosed that he was on way to Kupwara to sell the drugs in the area and was arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody”, reads the above referred police statement, adding that “ a case vide FIR No. 58/2022 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Kupwara and further investigation are in progress”.
In the concluding para of its statement police appealed people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood but warned that people found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt with as per law, stating therein further that consistent actions against drug peddlers are taken to keep society free from the scourge of drug menace.
