Jammu : Jammu & Kashmir team for Col C.K.Nayudu trophy departed for Delhi Thursday this week to participate in Col C.K. Nayudu trophy. Speaking on the occasion Brig. Anil Gupta (Reid.), Member Administration said that the format of the tournament has been changed due to covid pandemic.
According to a statement issued by J&K Cricket Association (JKCA) the 19 member J&K Cricket team led by stylish batsman Shuhham Singh Pundir left for Delhi to participate in Col C.K. Nayudu Trophy being organized by BCCI. Brig. Anil Cupta (Reid.), Member Administration, JKCA, according to a statement issued by JK CA, said that in view of the covid threat and limited window left for the current season 2021-22, the format of the tournament has been changed. The teams have been divided into 8 Elite groups of 4 teams each and one Plate group of 5 teams. The tournament that commenced from March 17 will conclude on May, 1. J&K has been placed in Elite group II along with Punjab, Bengal and Tripura and will play its league matches at Delhi. J&K will play Bengal in its first league Match beginning on 22nd March, 2022 at Arun Jaitley Cricket Stadium. Delhi. Sunil Sethi, Member Legal Affairs, IKCA, further said that after the league phase which will end on 8th April, 8 top placed teams of each Elite group will qualify for knockout stage. The knockout stage will be held at Bengaluru from 9th April to 1st May. The team was flagged off by the Sub Committee members and the members of the Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC).
Shubham Singh Pundir led team includes Dikshant Kundal, Kanhaiya Wadhawan, Musail Ajaz, Sahil Lotra, Waseem Bashir, Brijesh Sharma, Lone Nasir, Taizeem Younis, Sunil Kumar, Niptni Verma, Ahid Mushtaq, Saksham Sharma, Henan Nazir, Qamran lghal, Shivansh Sharma, Auqib Nab’, Mujtaba Yousuf and Arya Thakur. The team is also accompanied by able and talented Support Staff which includes Sarabjeet Singh (Head Coach), Hilal Ahmad (Manager), Veemarsh Kaw (Asst. Manager), Gurupartap Singh (Trainer), Huwaid Hamid (Fielding Coach), Shafqat Malik (Bowling Coach), Ilassib Rehman (Physiotherapist), Sahil Magotra (Video Analyst) and Ankit Kumar (Massage Therapist).
