Agriculture deptt distributes vegetable seedling at Kulgam

Kulgam : Continuing Departments valley wide vegetable seedling distribution drive, Joint Director Agriculture Farms Dr. Syed Waseem Ahmad Shah Saturday inaugurated the sale of Hybrid and Exhotic Vegetable seedlings at Hi-tech Poly green House Kelam Kulgam.
Speaking on the occasion Joint Director said that the department has introduced a number of innovative interventions to ensure the vegetable seedlings of different crops are made available to the farming community round the year.
Dr. Waseem appreciated CAO Kulgam and his team for their efforts in ensuring the availability of seedlings to the farmers of concerned district well on time. He said the introduction and strengthening of Hi- Tech Polygreen house technology in the region is bearing fruits and playing a pivotal role in this direction.
Waseem said that a farmer is a custodian of a most important natural resource (Land Resource), he appealed the farming community to conserve/protect the land resources for generations to come as it was protected/conserved by our fore fathers.
Joint Director asked the concerned officers to organise farmers awareness/training programs with focus on vegetable cultivation so that more and more farmers/ unemployed educated youth could adopt it on commercial lines. He said that vegetable cultivation has a huge potential and could play a key role in the socio economic transformation of the farming community in the region.
Dr. Waseem said that the department is committed to the welfare and development of the farming community, asked the concerned officers to work in close coordination so that all the other set targets could be achieved in stipulated time frame.
Besides other Chief Agriculture Officer Kulgam Farooq Ahmad Dandroo, District Agriculture Officer Kulgam Dawood Ahmad Shad, SDAO Kulgam Ghulam Nabi Wani, SDAO Qaimoh Mohammad Amin Sheikh, Agriculture Extension Officer Kelam Mohammad Farooq Yatto were also present on the occasion.
