Teams from all districts of J&K are participating in the championship being organised by J&K Tennis Ball Cricket Association in collaboration with District Anantnag Tennis ball Cricket Association.
Throwing the competition open, the DC said playing cricket is a routine activity across the country and common unifier across the length and breadth. He said that tennis ball cricket is the first exposure to cricket for most youngsters and is a great platform to progress to the leather ball version.
Dr Singla said that the sport has gained popularity over the year and with its recognition by Govt of India, the prospects for budding sports persons involved in the game are bright. He said such inter district tournaments are instrumental in cross interaction of players and a good platform for exchange of productive thoughts.
Interacting with the players, the DC encouraged them to play the sport with dedication and energy. He said that involvement in productive activities shapes the thought process of individuals and opens many opportunities for prosperity.
The organisers on the occasion said that J&K has achieved success in tennis ball cricket at various levels and they are hopeful that soon national zonal competitions will be held in Anantnag.
The DC accompanied by SDM Bijbehara and Principal GHSS Bijbehara also inspected the functioning of the school. He said the staff should organize innovative awareness camps to attract more students to school. He said the role of teachers in shaping the minds of the enthusiastic students is indispensable.
