J&K Handball championship: STC Jammu wins men’s title; District Jammu lifts women’s trophy

Jammu : Three day 7th J&K U.T Handball Championship concluded Wednesday here at Shastri Nagar Play Field.
Assistant Director Industries & Commerce Mohinder Sharma was the chief guest on the occasion, while Ranjit Chib Selector HFI and Ashwani Kumar Raina Executive member HFI were the guests of honour.
They also distributed prizes among the winners and runners-up teams on the occasion.
The Championship was organized by J&K Handball Association in collaboration with J&K Sports Council, under the supervision of Narinder Mahajan, President & Rajesh Chandan, General Secretary of the Association.
Speaking on the occasion , the Chief Guest said J&K is rich in sports talent and sportsmen from here have proven their mettle at different national and international championships. He added that proper nurturing by JKHA will go a long way in promoting the talent at different levels.
Earlier, Rajesh Chandan presented the welcome address.
Among Others who are present on the occasion included Ashraf Parray, Ravi Singh, Pravel Kumar, Sanjeev Jamwal, Pawan Sharma Dipanker Singh Renu Rattan ,Sanjay Puri, Kusum Tickoo and Vinay Sharma, Coach.
The final match in women’s section was played between District Jammu and District Udhampur in which District Jammu emerged winner by 13-7 goals. The main scorer for District Jammu was Arushi who netted 6 goals, while Kashish Baru and Richa Mandala also scored 3 goals each.
In the men’s section, the final match was played between STC Jammu and District Jammu in which STC Jammu emerged winner by 27-25 goals.
Matches were officiated by Sunny Dogra, Bhumesh Dogra, Refree,Table Offical – Arushi Sharma,Sulekha Kundal and Utkarsh Raina,Sankit vohra.
Special Guest Deepak Honda, Kuljit Singh Jk Basketball association, Amit Sharma Project Manger Industries and Commerce Deptt and former international players present on the occasion.
