Udhampur: An awareness cum sensitization programme was Tuesday organized by J&K Khadi and Village Industries Board here at village Manwal, District Udhampur to inform the unemployed youth of the area about different self-employment schemes being implemented by the board.DDC member Majalta, Amit Shamra, Dy.CEO J&K KVIB Jammu Division, Tilak Raj, Sarpanch Thalora, Sarpanch Devi Vani, Sarpanch Cheni, Panches of area Bankers and a large number of unemployed youth attended the said awareness camp.The Deputy CEO J&K KVIB impressed upon the unemployed youth and the budding entrepreneurs to come forward to avail the benefits of self employment schemes to start their employment generating ventures.While elaborating the schemes, he said that under Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP) and Jammu and Kashmir Rural Employment Generation Programme ( JKREGP) schemes 25 to 35% subsidy is provided to the beneficiaries, whereas, an assistance up to Rs 25 lakhs and Rs 10 lakhs is provided under manufacturing and service sectors, respectively. He further said that these schemes also envision to minimize migration of the people from rural to urban areas in search of job opportunities. He informed that both the schemes are online and people can avail their benefits from their home without visiting offices.The Dy. CEO a detailed account of the types of the activities allowed under the twin schemes and those fall under the negative list. He gave a detailed presentation on both PMEGP and JKREGP schemes to the participants.DDC Majalta, Amit Sharma appreciated the step taken by the J&K KVIB to educate the unemployed youth of the area about self-employment schemes. He urged that such programmes must be made a regular feature and organized in every nook and corner of every block. He praised the J&K KVIB for providing employment opportunities to youth by enabling them to set up micro units.
The DDC members also handed over the keys of Load Carrier sponsored by J&K KVIB under JKREGP and financed by J&K Bank Khoon.
