DC Reasi reviews implementation of Distt Road Safety plan

Reasi : Deputy Commissioner Reasi Babila Rakwal Tuesday reviewed implementation of the District Road Safety plan at a meeting of the District Road Safety Committee.
ADDC Jyoti Salathia, SSP Reasi Amit Gupta, ADC Abdul Star, ACR Sanjay Badyal, CMO Rajeev Sharma, CEO Mohd.Aziz, ARTO Rajesh Gupta, DIO Rajinder Kr Digra and members of committee attended the meeting.
The DC emphasised that the Road Safety Committee was constituted by the Government of J&K with the main objective of reducing road accidents and saving precious human lives and for better management of traffic within the District.
On this occasion, several agendas were discussed. The major issues discussed in the meeting included implementation of current year DRS Plan and formulation of the same for next year.
The DC stressed on the Inspection of roads by the Police department through RADMS App to know the actual reason of accident and Identification of Black Spots/Accidental Prone areas. She stressed on taking corrective measures, repair and installation of crash barriers and road signages, removal of encroachments from footpath and roads, handling of stray cattle problem, organising Medical and awareness camps, availability of ambulances on NHW near accidental prone areas for immediate shifting in case of any mishap, issuance of route pass certificate of newly constructed roads/link roads, identification of 30-40 Kanal land for establishment of ICC/Scrap yard/Trial ground, De-congestion of general bus stand Reasi to regulate the traffic at general bus stand, status of Road Safety club in schools &Colleges , removal of standard Rehries at bus stand and adjoining areas to the nearby suitable location by allowing license rehries to operate, recommendation for suspension of driving licenses for violation of traffic rules like over speeding, drink and drive cases, use of Mobile phones while driving.
The DC instructed the authorities for strict action against violators of MVA norms and emphasized on regular sensitization of drivers and bikers for ensuring safe driving.
The executing agencies were asked to ensure proper maintenance of roads and installation of crash barriers with reflecting tape, repair of parapets and signages at working sites with emphasis on accident prone areas.
Further, thrust was laid on setting up teams of volunteers and QRT squads to curb underage and delinquent driving besides handling any type of exigency on the roads.
The DC instructed the district officers for formulation of Road safety plan 2022-23 and also asked for implementation of Ribbon Development Act (To remove Buildings / dumping material from road sides).
