The rising tendency of students to pursue medical education in foreign countries is by all probabilities the direct outcome of the increasing cost for Medical Education in private Medical Colleges in India and unfortunately the cause of student crisis in war ravaged Ukraine is the unprecedented rise in the tendency of students to pursue medical colleges in countries where costs of medical education are affordable for the people of middle class sections of society in Jammu & Kashmir and many states and union territories of the country. Though no of seats for admissions to undergraduate medical courses in Government Medical Colleges have been increased over the period of years almost in all the states and union territories but increasing gap between the unsuccessful competitors and the qualifiers for undergraduate medical courses through NEET examination does not head to any dead end in all the states and union territories of the country and it is more intense in Jammu & Kashmir than any other part of the country. Now when the central government talks about reducing the increasing intensity of students for pursuing medical education in other countries in view of unpredictable security scenario in most of the foreign countries, there is no other option but to unprecedentedly increase the no of seats in both Government and private medical colleges across the country and explore all possibilities to reduce the course fee of medical education in all the private medical colleges in all the states and union territories of the country including Jammu & Kashmir.
The unprecedented rise in the fee for medical courses in private medical colleges in the country is the root cause of unprecedented rise in the tendency of students for pursuing medical courses in foreign countries and as such reducing the costs of medical education in the private medical colleges of the country is the only way to reverse non-stop trends and tendencies of the students to pursue medical education in other countries. Unless and until the course fee for medical courses is not reduced from 1- 1.5 Crores to several lacs of rupees the non stop trend of students to pursue medical education in other countries can’t be stopped.
While the cost of undergraduate medical courses in Government Medical Colleges ranges between Rs70,000 to 3 lacs across the country, the fee for undergraduate medical courses in private medical colleges ranges between Rs 1-1.5 Cr which is too much and almost unaffordable for most of the people in almost all parts of the country. In fact the unprecedented rise in the fee for medical courses in private medical colleges in the country is the root cause of unprecedented rise in the tendency of students for pursuing medical courses in foreign countries and as such reducing the costs of medical education in the private medical colleges of the country is the only way to reverse non-stop trends and tendencies of the students to pursue medical education in other countries. Unless and until the course fee for medical courses is not reduced from 1- 1.5 Crores to several lacs of rupees the non stop trend of students to pursue medical education in other countries can’t be stopped.
