Srinagar : Police on Monday said that it has arrested a drug peddler in Awantipora and also recovered contraband substance from his possession.
According to police statement, a Police Party of Police Post Reshipora at a checkpoint established near Bra Bandina Crossing intercepted a suspicious person identified as Irshad Ahmad Koka son of Bashir Ahmad Koka resident of Melhura Shopian and upon checking, officers recovered 900 grams of charas (in shape of sticks) from his possession following which he was arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody.
“Accordingly, a case vide FIR number 36/2022 under relevant sections of law has been registered at PS Awantipora and investigation has been initiated”, reads further the above quoted police statement.
In the concluding para of it’s statement police appealed people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood but warned that people found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt with as per law, stating therein further that consistent actions against drug peddlers are taken to keep society free from the scourge of drug menace.
