Baramulla : As part of celebration of Iconic Week of International Women’s Day being celebrated across the district, a daylong function was Saturday organized at Dak Bungalow Baramulla wherein the entrepreneurial spirit of “Naye Bharat ki Nari” was applauded and female entrepreneurs under SHG, UMEED and other allied Centrally Sponsored Schemes were felicitated.
The programme was organised by Jammu and Kashmir Rural Livelihood Mission (JKLRM) in collaboration with the Department of Rural Development Department Baramulla.
The programme was graced by Chairperson District Development Council Baramulla, Safeena Beigh as the Chief Guest while as Additional District Development Commissioner Baramulla, Aijaz Abdullah Saraf as the Guest of Honour.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chairperson DDC Baramulla highlighted the role of women and their contribution towards society. She extended warm congratulations to SHG female entrepreneurs and encouraged them for becoming self-reliant and a job provider for the unemployed females by taking incentives from the Centrally Sponsored Schemes meant for their socio-economic upliftment.
She reiterated that women need to be confident in empowering themselves as they are the ones who shape the society.
While highlighting the contributions made by females in all the fronts, the Chairperson DDC said the women are marching ahead in all the fields, particularly education, and several of them are heading the institutions and organizations, both private and public, effectively.
She urged females to take advantage of the Centrally Sponsored Schemes in order to earn their livelihood by making themselves self-empowered.
On the occasion, cultural events depicting the skill of the females were presented which was applauded by the participants.
Moreover, SHG entrepreneurs and other successful females who have shown exemplary achievements in their respective fields were facilitated on the occasion.
Assistant Commissioner Development Baramulla, Yaar Ali Khan, Chief Education Officer Baramulla G.M Lone, Assistant Commissioner Panchayat, Gulzar Ahmad, Project Manager JKLRM, Mohd Yousuf besides a huge gathering of SHG entrepreneurs and other concerned functionaries were present on the occasion.
