Doda: PRIs learn about communicable diseases at IDSP workshop

Doda : A one day orientation programme cum workshop on communicable diseases was Saturday held for PRIs here under Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme (IDSP).
Vice Chairman DDC Doda Sangeet Bhagat was the Chief Guest, while Director General Family Welfare, MCH & Immunization & Director Health Services Jammu Dr Saleem ur Rehman was the Guest of Honor.
SSP Doda Abdul Qayoom, ADDC Doda Pran Singh, CMO Doda Dr M Y Mir, Chairman MC Bhaderwah Dr Shahid Mughal, Dy CMO Doda Dr Rakesh Bhagat, MS AH GMC Doda Dr Yudhvir Singh, DIO Dr Varsha Sharma, District Information Officer Doda, besides DDC Members, Chairperson BDCs, Sarpanches, Officers from Health Department and prominent citizens of the area were also present on the occasion.
In his welcome address, the CMO presented an overview of the workshop and said that the main aim of the training programme is to highlight the role of PRIs at Panchayat level in curbing the outbreak of communicable diseases. He added that PRIs can play an important role in water surveillance by having close coordination with the IDSP unit for ascertaining the waterborne, food borne diseases and also help the health department in implementing the IHIP at grass-root level.
Chief Animal Husbandry Officer Dr Mayan ud Din, Asstt Commissioner Food Safety, Tariq Ahmed Butt & Epidemiologist Umar Anayat Khan were the Guest Speakers.
They educated the PRIs regarding the IDSP scheme and its various aspects. They defined the role of IDSP and gave awareness regarding water borne diseases, food borne diseases, common zoonotic diseases, and outbreak investigation through PPT.
The IEC material regarding various diseases and health schemes was also distributed among the participants to make them aware of communicable disease and other major health schemes of the health department.
The DG Family Welfare J&K and Director Health Services Jammu Dr Saleem ur Rehman,lauded the efforts of District Health Society Doda for organizing such a mega awareness programme for PRIs. He hoped that it would prove beneficial for all in terms of implementation of IDSP scheme at grassroots level.
Dr Saleem ur Rehman highlighted the health care schemes and said that the health department is endeavouring to ensure that the benefits reach to the last man in the queue. He exhorted upon all the health officers and official to make cordial relation with PRIs for effective implementation of the schemes at grassroots level.
The Chief Guest, Vice Chairman, DDC Doda, Sangeeta Bhagat, in her speech appreciated the health department for organizing such a mega awareness programme for PRIs. She assured that every member from PRI shall work wholeheartedly for effective implementation of all the schemes of GOI. She asked the health department to organize more awareness camps across the district so that more and more people could benefit from various health schemes.
Later, prizes and certificates were distributed among the medical staff of the Health Department who received UT level appreciation awards for their exemplary services in the department.
District Immunization Officer Doda Dr Varsha Sharma presented the formal vote of thanks.
Director Health Services Jammu Dr Saleem ur Rehman along with CMO Doda also inaugurated District Tobacco Control Cell at CMO Office.
The Director Health Services Jammu also visited AH GMC Doda and took a detailed round of the newly modified Emergency Room and Dialysis Unit and the facilities being provided to the patients. The DHS, after taking a detailed review, expressed satisfaction over the functioning of the ER and Dialysis Unit.
