Anantnag. : In order to have firsthand appraisal of public issues and grievances, the weekly Block Diwas programme was Wednesday held in twin blocks of Dachnipora and Chittergul of Anantnag.
On the occasion, several delegations registered their grievances with the concerned government functionaries, while some grievances were redressed on spot, others were taken up with concerned departments for time bound redressal.
At Chittergul, the event was presided over by ADDC Anantnag, Bashir Ahmad Wani. Addressing the gathering ADDC said that PRIs and officials have to redresses grievance in a coordinated manner. He said formulation of district plans as per local demands and redressal of local issues is critical for overall development.
The ADDC also emphasized on the need to spread awareness regarding various welfare schemes of the Government. He said that awareness and registration camps for golden card registration are being organized throughout the district.
He said similar programs are also being organized regarding Ladli Beti scheme, various incentive programs of agriculture and horticulture departments. He said PRIs should spread the message in their panchayat halqas so that wider coverage is attained and more people receive the benefits.
A Maha Gram Sabha was also organized for formulation of special plan under Aspirational District Program. It is in place to mention that Chittergul and Larnoo Blocks in Anantnag have been declared aspirational districts for fast paced development. BDC Chairperson Choudhary Hameed urged the PRIs to ensure the plans are reflective of people’s wishes. He said that formulation of development plans is one of the most important parameters for effective and smooth execution of works.
In addition, as part of celebration of Iconic Week of International Women’s Day, several female mates of MGNREGA were also felicitated on the occasion. PRIs and officials present appreciated the women for the important role they are playing in local development.
Several people put forth their grievances related to water supply, health care, roads etc and the concerned officials assured prompt redressal.
ADDC, DDC members, BDC chairpersons, ACP, CEO, DD Fisheries, Tehsildar, BDO Sarpanches, Panches, officials of RDD, Jal Shakti, I&FC and members of civil society were present in large numbers.
At Dachnipora DDC member Nisar Ahmed Mir and BDC Chairperson Bashir Ahmad Pathan were present on the occasion and impressed on the officials to ensure timely completion of all works. They directed the PRI functionaries to hold gram sabhas in their panchayats and conduct thorough deliberations in formulating development plans for the next fiscal. They stressed on interdepartmental coordination with a common aim at fast paced development in the area.
SDM Pahalgam impressed upon the officers to ensure grievance redressal is prioritized at all levels. He said there will be regular reviews at Sub Divisional level regarding redressal of grievances received during Block Diwas.
Delegations of civil society put forth demands regarding construction of bridge at Adlash, repair of panchayat ghars, NoC from the other departments for smooth execution of developmental works.
The meeting was attended by SDM Pahalgam, Tehsildar pahalgam, sarpanches, panches and large number of local people besides officials of Jal Shakti, KPDCL, RDD, I&FC, Agriculture and Horticulture among others.
