Budgam : Police on Wednesday said that it has arrested four drug peddlers in Budgam and also recovered contraband substances from their possession.
In a statement issued on Wednesday police said that officers from Police Station Magam at a checkpoint established at Adina Crossing Magam intercepted four persons roaming in suspicious condition who tried to flee from the spot but were apprehended tactfully by the alert police party and upon searching, 480 tablets of Spasmoproxyvon Plus and 50 grms of charas were recovered from their possession.
Stating that the said accused have been identified as Nayeem Akbar Wani son of Mohd Akbar resident of Agrikalan Magam, Zahid Ahmad Bhat son of Late Abdul Majeed Bhat resident of Pethkanihama, Irfan Ahmad Hajam son of Ab Hamid and Irfan Ahmad Wani son of Ghulam Mohammad both residents of Aripanthan, police in it’s statement said that the above named accused have been arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody, stating therein further that a case vide FIR No. 36/2022 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Magam and further investigation are underway
In the concluding para of it’s statement police appealed people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood but warned that people found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt with as per law, stating therein further that consistent actions against drug peddlers are taken to keep society free from the scourge of drug menace.
