Srinagar  : Celebrating the rich contribution of women in life and all its attendant activities on ‘International Women’s Day’ with a theme of ‘Break the Bias’, J&K Bank Tuesday held a special function at its Corporate Headquarters.
The bank’s Managing Director & CEO, Baldev Prakash chaired the function that was attended by Executive President Sunil Gupta, Presidents, Vice Presidents, women staff and other officers of the Bank. All the zonal offices of the Bank also joined the function through VC mode.
Meena Prakash, Wife of MD & CEO Baldev Prakash, was the Chief Guest at the function.
After cutting the ceremonial cake, the Chief Guest recited a poem extolling virtues, strengths and the mettle that goes into the making of woman as powerful creation on the planet. While thanking the participants for their extraordinary care, love and hospitality, she said, “I am pleased to know that J&K Bank has given equal opportunities to the women here to work and I can see all of you have excelled really well.”
Reiterating the Bank’s commitment towards financial empowerment of women, MD & CEO said the Bank is already extending financial support to aspiring women entrepreneurs under various schemes like Stand-Up India for Women Entrepreneurs, Tejaswani and Hausla. He stressed upon women of J&K, Ladakh and beyond to come forward with their ventures while assuring them of complete financial support.
Commending the valuable role of women in general and Bank’s women staff in particular, MD & CEO Baldev Prakash pledged on the occasion to work further towards breaking all kinds of bias in the organisation while empowering the women staff.
“I have seen remarkably talented lady officers in this Bank with professional competence and sound contributing commitment towards the organisation. Going ahead, we shall strengthen the institutional culture further to discourage any kind of discrimination at the work place”, MD & CEO said.
“I feel very happy to be part of this gathering that inspires me to say; together we will break the bias. The confidence to say this comes from all of you present here looking determined to transform the perception about women from being susceptible to strong. Let’s together renew our pledge to take our beloved Bank to newer heights of excellence”, he added.
Speaking on the occasion, Executive President thanked the Chief Guest for accepting the invite and gracing the occasion. He emphasized that the essence of the day can only be captured when we as a society try to break out of the parochial gendered mindset both in family and at work place.
Earlier, congratulating the female workforce for their commitment and proficiency, President RajniSaraf said that J&K Bank had always been at the forefront of empowerment of women through its various interventions.
While giving an account of her personal and professional experiences, she urged the women participants to work with dignity and zeal for the betterment of their beloved organisation. “You need to work as professionals and never let any bias or prejudice operating in the society to dampen your spirits”, she said.
Meanwhile, in a symbolic gesture of experiencing ‘freedom from bias’, the participants in presence of MD & CEO, Chief Guest and top management executives released balloons in the lawns of Bank’s corporate headquarters.
