Int’l Women’s Day observed across Kupwara district

Kupwara  : International Women’s Day (IWD) was Tuesday observed across district Kupwara with the main function organized by Jan ShikshanSansthan (JSS) Kupwara at Town Hall, here.
The function was presided over by Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, Imam Din. ADC Kupwara, GhulamNabi Bhat; Principal GDC Women and Director JSS were also present at the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner emphasized the role of women in overall development of the society and highlighted the importance of Women empowerment for making them self-reliant.
Other speakers including ADC, Principal GDC, Director JSS and others also spoke on the occasion and highlighted the role of women in economic, political and social achievements of the society.
The speakers acknowledged that the contributions of local women are essential to realize true equality in respect of our homes, our workplaces, and in our society as a whole.
The Director JSS said that Jan ShikshanSansthanKupwara is taking every possible step to make a positive effort for the upliftment and progressive development of female folks which is achievable within its capacities and capabilities.
International Women’s Day was also celebrated at Town Hall Handwara which was presided over by ADC Handwara, Nazir Ahmad Mir. DDC Member Rajwar, Suliman Mir, Chairman Municipal Committee, Masroor Ahmad Banday, TehsildarHandwara and other officers participated on the occasion.
