Kupwara : The District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Kupwara Tuesday organised functions at many schools across the district to celebrate International Women’s Day (IWD).
The major function was held at Kupwara Public School (KPS) which was presided over by Secretary DLSA/Sub-Judge Kupwara, Muzamill Ahmad Wani.
Speaking at the occasion, the Secretary DLSA stressed the need to encourage girl children and stop the bias against women wherever it exists in the society.
The officers nominated by the Social Welfare department, Child Welfare Unit, JJB and representative of One Stop Center (Sakhi) elaborated on the theme of the topic to the audience consisting of students, PLVs and staff of the school.
The students also delivered speeches on the topic and thanked the DLSA Kupwara for organizing such events.
Separate programmes were also conducted in Govt. Higher Secondary School Kupwara and Handwara in collaboration with the Education department wherein the importance of celebrating the IWD was highlighted and students and teachers expressed the need to be sensitive to problems of Girls and Women in the society.
