ATM fraud case solved in Kulgam, Burglary case in Bandipora, 6 arrested, stolen property recovered: Police

Kulgam & Bandipora  : Police on Tuesday said that it has arrested six burglars/fraudsters in Kulgam & Bandipora and also recovered ATM cards & other stolen items worth lakhs from their possession.
In a statement issued on Tuesday police said that Police Station Kulgam on 14th February this year received a written complaint from one Arshad Ahmad Parray resident of Chattabal who stated therein that his father had visited ATM on 6th February this year at main branch J&K Bank Kulgam.
Stating that as the father of the complainant, according to the complaint, was unable to utilise his ATM card he handed over the ATM card to an unknown person and requested him to withdraw cash from his account and accordingly shared his ATM PIN, Police in it’s statement said that the said person after withdrawing cash exchanged the ATM card and then while using the ATM card of the victim withdrew an amount of ₹40000/- from the account of complainant’s father, stating therein further that subsequently, a case vide FIR No. 19/2022 under relevant sections of law was registered in Police Station Kulgam and investigation was initiated.
Police in it’s statement further more said that during the course of investigation, officers zeroed in on 4 suspected persons identified as Sohail Ahmad Wani son of Mubarak Ahmad Wani, (ATM Exchanger), Wasim Ahmad Ganai son of Abdul GaniGanai, both residents of Rangrezpora Kulgam, Adnan Ahmad Ahangar son of Ghulam Ahmed Ahanger resident of Ziyarat Gali Kulgam and Umar YaqoobNaik son of Mohd YaqoobNaik resident of Khuloora Malwan. “During questioning, they confessed their involvement in different burglaries & other offences and on their disclosure 6 ATM Cards, 6 mobile phones and cash ₹15000 was recovered from the possession of the above named accused”, reads the above referred police statement, adding that “ accordingly, all the accused persons were arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody”, stating therein further that “further investigation of the case is going on and more recoveries & arrests are expected”.
Police in its statement also said that In Bandipora Police Station Bandipora on 6th March received a complaint from one person namely Mohammad Hamza Lone son of Ayat Mohammad Lone resident of Mehoobul Alam Colony Kaloosa Bandipora who stated therein that some thieves have barged inside his residential house and have stolen goods worth lakhs of rupees.
Stating that a case vide FIR No. 34/2022 under relevant sections of law was registered in Police Station Bandipora and investigation was initiated, police in it’s statement said that during the course of investigation, a special investigation team headed by SHO PS Bandipora under the supervision of Dy SP Hqrs Bandipora Mohammad Shafat was constituted.
:During the course of investigation many suspects were called for questioning and after using all available means, officers zeroed in on 2 suspected persons identified as Sameer Ahmad Sheikh son of Riyaz Ahmad Sheikh and Zameer Ahmad Akhoon son of Zahoor Ahmad Akhoon, both residents of Kaloosa Bandipora” reads the police statement, adding therein that “During questioning, both confessed their involvement in the commission of crime and accordingly, they were arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody”.
Police in it’s statement furthermore said that on the disclosure of the above named accused the stolen items including golden jewellery, copper utensils, LED television, crockery items and other goods valuing lakhs of rupees were recovered from their possession.
In the concluding para of it’s statement police appreciated efforts of the concern officials in cracking the cases and resolved to act tough against individuals involved in any kind of criminal activities.
