Jammu : District Legal Service Authority (DLSA) Jammu, in collaboration with Mahila Sakti Kendra Jammu, today celebrated International Women Day 2022 with zeal here at Justice Mehr Chand Mahajan Park.
M K Sharma, Member Secretary J&K Legal Service Authority, was the chief guest on the occasion while Yahaya Firdous, Secretary (DLSA) was the Guest of Honor.
Ajay Salaan, District Social Welfare Officer Jammu, Yougal Mahajan, Social Worker, Shagun Manchanda, Women Welfare Officer , Mahila Shakti Kendra Jammu, office bearers from Red Cross Society, other concerned departments and scores of women were also present on the occasion.
On the occasion, the Chief Guest felicitated around 20 women achievers from different walks of life.
While felicitating the women and girls who have contributed tremendously towards the cause of the society in different ways, Member Secretary, M.K Sharma highlighted the challenges faced by women in every sphere of life. He emphasized on educating the women and making them literate. He laid stress on the role of women as a nation builder and said that growth and development of not only a family but the entire world depends on the growth of women.
The women were also made aware regarding the government sponsored schemes initiated for the empowerment and social-economic uplift of women besides their legal rights under various legislations. Blankets, Ration, Hygiene Kits were also distributed on the occasion.
