Ganderbal : Police on Monday said that it has arrested three drug peddlers in Ganderbal and also recovered contraband substances from their possession.
In a statement issued on Monday police said that in Ganderbal at various checkpoints established across the district arrested three drug peddlers identified as Tawseef Ahmad Khan @Kaka son of Awrang Gull Khan resident of Dursuma Manigam, Ishfaq Ahmad Sheikh son of Gh Nabi Sheikh resident of Batpora Safapora and Suhail Ahmad Tantary son of Mohammad Yousaf Tantary resident of Wakoora and huge quantity of contraband substances including 42.5 Kgs grinded Cannabis, 2.160 Kgs of Cannabis powder were recovered from their possession, stating therein further that 5 bottles of liquor were also recovered from their possession and the said accused were arrested and shifted to police stations where they remain in custody.
“Accordingly, cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at respective police stations and further investigation set into motion”, the police statement reads further.
In the concluding para of its statement police appealed people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood but warned that people found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt with as per law, stating therein further that consistent actions against drug peddlers are taken to keep society free from the scourge of drug menace.
