Jammu|March, 5: Five travelers of Kashmir while on their way to from Punjab to Srinagar on Saturday died on Saturday in a road accident in Samba district of Jammu province
Officials said that five people died in Samba when the vehicle they were traveling in skidded off the road and plunged into a deep gorge . An official said that a car bearing registration number (JK01U-2233) travelling from Samba to Srinagar fell into a deep gorge near Jamoda, Samba.The SUV was on its way to Srinagar from Punjab and the accident took place near Jamoda near Mansar, the officials said.
The driver lost control of the SUV carrying six people, following which it rolled down into the gorge, the officials said. They said five bodies were recovered by the rescuers, while the sixth occupant was evacuated in a critical condition. The deceased have been identified as Gulzar Ahmad Bhat (71), his wife Zaina Begum(65), their son Iqbal Ahmad Bhat(25) and daughter Masrat Jan(21). The driver has been identified as Saqib, also a resident of Anantnag.
