5 gamblers arrested in Bandipora, Stake money seized: Police

Bandipora : Police on Friday said that it has arrested five gamblers in Bandipora and also seized stake money from their possession.
In a statement issued on Friday police said that while acting on specific information, a police party led by SHO Police Station Hajin under the supervision of SDPO Hajin Lateef Khan raided a gambling site at village Hakbara Hajin after receiving an input about gambling activities and arrested five gamblers who have been identified as Bilal Ahmad Fafoo resident of Hakbara, Nazir Ahmad Baba, Fayaz Ahmad Wani both residents of Hajin, Waseem Ahmad Langoo and Showkat Ahmad Mir both residents of KusumbaghHakbaraHajin.
Stating that Officers have seized stake money of ₹5600/- and play cards from the possession of the above named accused who have been shifted to police station where they remain in custody, Police in its statement also said that a case vide FIR No. 11/2022 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Hajin and further investigation has been initiated.
In the concluding para of its statement police appealed people to come forward with any information regarding gambling activities in their neighbourhood, but warned that people found indulging in gambling activities will be dealt as per law, stating therein further that people found indulging in criminal activities shall be dealt as per law.
