Kupwara : The Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC), Kupwara, GhulamNabi Bhat who is also the Adjudicating Officer Thursday imposed a fine of Rs.52,000 on 12 erring shopkeepers for different violations under Food Safety and Standards Act,2006.
It was informed that 6 beef vendors were fined Rs.30000 for unsanitary and unhygienic conditions. Besides, 6 other shopkeepers have been fined Rs.22000 for selling sub-standard and misbranded grocery items.
The erring shopkeepers have been asked to maintain proper hygiene and avoid selling substandard items and have been warned about strict action including seizure of their shops in case they are found guilty.
