Ganderbal, : The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Ganderbal, Krittika Jyotsna Thursday presided over a one day workshop cum awareness programme under national action plan for Drug demand reduction under NashaMukhut Bharat Abhiyan.
The workshop was conducted by the Social Welfare Department in collaboration with District Administration and SRDGVV (NGO) at Town Hall, here with an aim to make participants aware about substance abuse and ways to get rid of this menace and its total eradication from society particularly from district Ganderbal.
On the occasion, the DC felicitated some persons who have recovered from substance abuse and gave instructions to the General Manager, District Industries Centre, Ganderbal to process the cases of these recovered persons under specific self-employment schemes so that they would be able to start their own ventures to earn their livelihood.
She said that the need of the hour is to have a collective approach to get rid of the drug menace from the district.
Other Officers and Dignitaries who participated in the event include. ASP Ganderbal, Psychiatrist District Hospital Ganderbal, Assistant Director Handicrafts Ganderbal, Munsif Judicial Court District Court Ganderbal, Staff of ICPS, ICDS besides students of various educational institutions of the district.
The event was concluded with a pledge by all participants that district Ganderbal will be made free from drugs with the active support of District Administration, police and other sections of society.
